우고 론디노네는 10월 21일을 시작으로 내년 1월 10일까지 프랑스 파리의 팔레 드 도쿄에서 개인전 <UGO RONDINONE : I ♥ JOHN GIORNO>을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 앤디 워홀과 함께 미국의 팝아트를 주도한 미국 시인 존 지오르노의 삶과 작품을 처음으로 회고한다. 우고 론디노네는 총 8 챕터로 전시를 구성, 다양한 관점에 따른 지오르노의 삶과 철학을 시, 미술, 음악, 퍼포먼스를 통해 선보인다. 뿐만 아니라 이번 전시는 지오르노의 작품세계에 영향을 준 여러 세대와 문화에 걸친 작가들의 작품을 살펴볼 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 론디노네는 특히 이 전시를 통해 예술이 지닌 시적이고 문학적인 관계를 탐구하며 나아가 총체적인 예술이 지닌 정신적인 심미성에 대해 선보일 예정이다. 

Ugo Rondinone’s solo exhibition UGO RONDINONE : I ♥ JOHN GIORNO at Palais de Tokyo in Paris takes place beginning on October 21st to January 10th, 2016. It is the first retrospective of the life and work of American poet John Giorno (born 1936, lives and works in New York) who led American Pop Art movement with Andy Warhol. Ugo Rondinone structured the exhibition in eight chapters, each representing a layer of Giorno’s multifaceted work. Combining poetry, visual arts, music, and performance, the exhibition reveals the significant influence of Giorno’s life and work on several generations of artists who have portrayed him. For this exhibition Rondinone has reinvented the retrospective format as portraiture and recaptures a form of spirituality through the connections between art and poetry.
