국제갤러리 김홍석이 참가하는 시징멘의 그룹전 이 일본 카나자와 21세기 미술관에서 4월 29일부터 8월 28일까지 개최된다. 한국의 김홍석, 중국의 천사오슝, 일본의 오자와 쓰요시가 2006년 결성한 프로젝트 그룹 ‘시징맨(Xijing Men 西京人)’ 은 그들이 만든 가상의 국가 개념을 통해 10년 동안 변화된 아시아의 위상과 국가간의 관계들을 유머있게 고찰한다. 이번 전시에서는 미술관의 입구와 7개의 전시실에 걸쳐 2008년 베이징 올림픽에서 영감을 받았던 기존 작품을 비롯하여 처음 소개되는 신작 등이 전시된다. 또한 김홍석, 천샤오슝, 오자와 쓰요시 세 작가의 신작들도 전시된다. 김홍석은 텍스트와 드로잉으로 새로운 공공미술을 제안하는 을 선보이면서 공공의 이름으로 경시되는 개인에 대해 돌아본다.

Gimhongsok will be participating in an exhibition showcasing his work in the collaborative group the Xijing Men in an exhibition titled Xijing Is Not Xijing, Therefore Xijing Is Xijing at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan, on view from April 29th to August 28th. Xijing Men (西京人) consists of three artists Gimhongsok (Korea), Chen Shaoxiong (China), and Ozawa Tsuyoshi (Japan), whose work has contemplated the transformed status of Asia over the past decade. Exploring identity and the relationships between their respective home countries through the fictitious city-state Xijing, the exhibition will include a new work, Chapter 5: Xijing is NOT Xijing. Taking over the entrance of the museum and seven exhibition spaces, the exhibition will also present works such as Chapter 3: Welcome to Xijing-Xijing Olympics (2008) inspired by the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and Chapter 3: Welcome to 2 Xijing—Xijing Immigration Bureau (2012). The exhibition will also include individual works by each artist. Gimhongsok will present his proposal for a new alternative for public art in Public Blank (2006-2008), a work that combines text and drawings to confront propaganda and grapples with the way individuals are subsumed in the name of the public
