마이클주는 10월 6일부터 2017년 2월 5일까지 사바나예술대학(SCAD) 미술관에서 개인전 를 개최한다. 마이클 주는 사나바예술대학이 위치한 조지아주 연안의 환경과 고고학에서 영감을 받아 환경에 대한 인간의 개입이 자연현상과 지역문화에 어떠한 영향을 끼치는지 연구를 바탕으로 전시를 구성하였다. 남부지방 토착건물에 주로 쓰이는 태비(tabby)로 만들어진 장소특정적 작품과 Savannah Barrier island에 벼락맞은 나무의 사진을 실사이즈로 사진, 디지털 스캐닝, 프린트메이킹을 조합하여 질산은지에 제작된 대형 페인팅 시리즈를 선보인다. 
 
Michael Joo will hold a solo exhibition, Barrier Island, from October 6, 2016 to February 5, 2017, at the Savannah College of Art and Design Museum of Art. Inspired by the natural environment and anthropology of coastal Georgia, Joo explores the effects of human intervention on natural phenomena and regional culture. The artist will showcase a site-specific installation made of tabby, a building material commonly used in the South, and a large painting series featuring works on paper dipped in silver nitrate. The painting series is a combination of life-size photographs, digital scans, and prints of a lightning-struck tree on Savannah Barrier Island
