정연두 작가의 개인전 “창조의 기법 The Mechanics of Invention”이 사바나예술대학 홍콩 갤러리에서 열리고 있다. 작가의 사진 및 영상 작업이 소개되는 이번 전시에서 대표 작품 “로케이션” 시리즈에서 선별된 작품들은 정연두 작가의 작품에서 볼 수 있는 내러티브와 영화적 영향을 대표적으로 보여준다. 이 작품은 현재의 공간을 과거의 공간처럼 보이게 하는 방식으로 촬영 되었으며 뒷부분에는 배경 사진, 앞부분에는 실물을 배치해 환상과 현실을 오가는 독특한 풍광을 연출하고 있다. 작가의 비디오 작업 “Six Points” 역시 신비로운 그림자와 인공조명이 뒤덮인 뉴욕 지역의 영상으로 만들어진 현실과 가공된 환경 사이를 오가며 신비로운 분위기를 자아낸다.

The SCAD exhibitions department presents "The Mechanics of Invention," a solo exhibition of photographs and a video work by Korean artist Yeondoo Jung. With narrative and cinematic influence, these works from Jung's acclaimed "Location" series reveal his enchanting and meticulously crafted set designs photographed to resemble film stills that move between fantasy and reality. The video work "Six Points" also oscillates between real and invented environments by animating images of New York neighborhoods with mysterious shadows and artificial light.
